John Carroll High School students enjoyed a visit by Youth Frontiers, a leading character education organization, which hosted a comprehensive retreat last week for students to focus on the importance of being respected and valued. The program helps to strengthen character and positive school communities.

For more than 24 years, Youth Frontiers has hosted successful and highly regarded retreats, which seek to teach students how to incorporate the values of kindness, courage, respect and integrity into their personal and school lives. The organization aims to strengthen core values, confront negative behaviors and enable students to recognize the consequences of their actions.

The retreats consist of interactive games, music and small discussion groups to break down walls between young people, helping them to see each other differently.

Throughout the retreat day, students exhibit traits of true character, mending relationships, stating acts of courage, as well as respecting themselves and others.

Comprehensive follow-up materials also provide a way for educators and students to extend the impact of the retreat.

Youth Frontiers, is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to building the character of young people. In addition, Youth Frontiers provides online resources for parents to help foster their childrens' positive peer interactions.
