TREASURE COAST -
With government tightening spending, it's welcome when private business helps provide seemingly simple things such as pencils and paper.
St. Lucie Lanes and Kids Bowl Free have partnered for the fifth year to provide two free games of bowling every day all summer for Treasure Coast children and provide 400 grants to teachers.
Recognizing the need for additional school supplies, the partnership added 400 grants to teachers to their program to help offset growing out-of-pocket expenses for the classroom.
Four hundred $250 classroom supply grants, now available, provide much-needed funds to acquire teaching aids needed for students.
Grant applications are available to all certified K-8 teachers teaching in public, private, charter or parochial schools. Schools may apply by visiting www.BowlingToTeachers.com and completing the short grant application. Eighty grants per month will be awarded from March through the end of July.
