Appalachian Gospel returns to Riverside Presbyterian Church April 22 at 3:30 p.m. J.T. Shealy and his bluegrass band, Homespun, will perform as they "bring back that old- time religion."
On April 28-29, the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra concludes its season with a concert of music from movies, featuring the work of Rodgers & Hammerstein. Selections from such memorable films as "Victory at Sea," "The Sound of Music," "Oklahoma" and "The King and I" will be featured as new 35 millimeter prints of some of the best-loved movie scenes fill the screen.
Aaron Collins, the orchestra's conductor, has announced an exciting matching funds plan that runs through Saturday, May 5.
"A generous friend of the Space Coast Symphony has agreed to a matching gift drive called 'Symphony for Good,'" Mr. Collins said.
"For each dollar raised, the donor will match that amount, up to $20,000. Two smaller donors will give $2,000 each if the matching amount is raised.
"This anonymous gift is in incredible opportunity and an unexpected turn of events," he said. "It will enable the orchestra to realize its mission and expand our youth education program.
"We have some very exciting plans for 2012-13, including a series of children's concerts. Gifts to the Space Coast Symphony will allow us to enrich and introduce Brevard County residents, young and old, to the power of symphonic music."
