FPL should leave South Daytona alone
For five years, FPL has tried to stop the city of South Daytona from exercising its right to distribute its own electricity according to the legal contract. The courts awarded the city the right to purchase the distribution and the Federal Energy Regulation Commission dismissed FPL's claim for $8.2 million in lost profits. Still FPL wages a war of letters, phone calls, public meetings, and now they are funding a Tallahassee-based lobbyist group and FPL workers to go door-to-door to incite citizens on the issue, which has already been decided months ago. FPL is a private monopoly that earned $945 million profit for its stockholders, and its parent company NextEra made a profit of $1.8 billion last year. From South Daytona, FPL made approximately $4.3 million gross profit last year. Let the city keep that profit in our own area for our own people.
Goliath FPL, give it up.
Keep the parks clean
My husband and I recently started to walk in the parks in Daytona Beach and Port Orange. We were thoroughly disgusted with some of the people walking their pets. These parks provide bags and a disposal container for their pets' waste. A few people didn't have any bags so they didn't pick up their pet's waste. A few people had big dogs. Need I say more? It is a shame people don't appreciate the beautiful parks Florida provides for them and their animals.
Bring back car inspections
You can only drive safe if your car is. Why don't we have car inspections? Other states have it, and it works out to be profitable situation for the county and the state. It would make the state more money and would employ more people. Other states do it. It is highly profitable and safer. At least let's do emissions tests.
Thanks for the compassion, officer
I would like to thank the police officer who asked me who was the most famous reindeer of all? When I said "Rudolph" he refrained from giving me a speeding ticket just a couple of days before Christmas. He deserves kudos. I was very gratefully because I would have had to take the money to pay the ticket from the Christmas money for gifts for my kids.
You are not forgotten
I would like to thank all the Korean War veterans. My praise is with you. You guys deserve more. You are not forgotten.
