Joseph Gershen Hyman

Joseph Gershen Hyman, 82, of Jupiter, died Nov.30, 2007. Born in Greensboro, N.C., he spent his childhood in Baltimore.

Mr. Hyman served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force in World War II and graduated from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville in 1950. He and his brother, Elliott, founded Eljo's Clothing Store in Charlottesville.

Mr. Hyman was noted for his generosity to University of Virginia students. He participated in subjects ranging from thoroughbred horses to oriental rugs and was a life master bridge player.

As a father and friend, he was gifted in his understanding of the delicate balance between providing guidance and empowering independence.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Ave., West Palm Beach 33407.

Arrangements were by Edgley Cremation Services in West Palm Beach.

Donald F. Hosmer

Donald F. Hosmer, 96, of Jupiter, died Dec. 3, 2007.

He was the husband of Evelyn; father of Diane (Herb) Evans of Jupiter, Douglas (Lanell) of Big Canoe, Ga., Donald (Sylvia) of Palm Desert, Calif. and grandfather of 11.

A memorial service was held Dec. 8 at Courtyard Gardens in Jupiter. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Palm Beach County County, or Treasure Coast Hospice.

Arrangements were by Edgley Cremation Services in West Palm Beach.

Steven Frank Liatto

Steven Frank Liatto, 59, of Hobe Sound, died Dec. 6, 2007. Born in New York City, he was an area resident for 30 years coming from Corona, Queens, N.Y.

Mr. Liatto was a self-employed plumber and member of American Legion Post No. 271 of Jupiter/Tequesta, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors include his wife, Claire Drouin-Liatto; son, Joshua Chandler, both of Hobe Sound; daughters, Tracy Ober of Tequesta and Stephanie Rose of Sebastian; brother, Frank Liatto of Valley Stream, N.Y.; sister, Alice Liatto of Corana, Queens;and two grandchildren.

A service was held Dec. 10 at Taylor and Modeen Funeral Home in Jupiter.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Hospice Foundation, Treasure Coast Hospice, 1201 Indian St., Stuart 34997.

Bruce Kahler Whitehead Sr

Bruce Kahler Whitehead Sr. of Tequesta, died Dec. 3, 2007.

Mr. Whitehead was employed by Rutgers University in Trenton, N.J. for more than 40 years. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II on the battleship USS Missouri, where he was privileged to lay the surrender plaque.

He is survived by his wife, Lieslotte (Lottie); son, Philip (Phil) and brother, Donald of Edison, N. J.; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Memorial donations are suggested to the charity of choice.

Arrangements were by Edgley Cremation Services in West Palm Beach.
