BREVARD -- The Space Coast's marketplace of resources and provider of information, advice, care and on-site services for seniors and their families is ramping up to host a one-of-a-kind fundraiser next week.

One Senior Place will host the inaugural "Food for Thought," a food truck dinner extravaganza on Thursday, Aug. 21 from 5 to 8 p.m.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Alzheimer's Association, in advance of Melbourne's Walk to End Alzheimer's.

"Food for Thought" is open to the public, and folks will be able to enjoy a variety of food trucks, music, socializing and a special pick-a-prize raffle cosponsored by VITAS Innovative Hospice Care.

There will also be team sign-up information for the upcoming Alzheimer's walk available.

"This is our first 'Food for Thought' fundraiser for the Alzheimer's Association," said Kathi Ridner, director of One Senior Place. "Hopefully, it will become an annual event for years to come."

Next week's event will feature a variety of food truck vendors -- several of which are from Brevard -- such as JR's Rib Shack, Coastal Kitchen, UDO's Doener & German Deli Booth, Viera Pizza, Uno's Chicago Grill and a few more.

"One-hundred percent of the proceeds from the sale of the 'pick-a-prize' raffle tickets will go to the Alzheimer's Association," Ms. Ridner said. "Some of the items include gift cards to local stores and restaurants, wine baskets, a gift basket from Clevens Face & Body, valued at $2,500, and much more."

Ms. Ridner said that she and One Senior Place are very excited for the opportunity to raise funds for a cause that touches so many lives, adding that it's not just the patient who is affected by Alzheimer's or Dementia; it's the entire family.

"This event is designed to be family-friendly," Ms. Ridner added. "In addition to the various food specialties available, we will have desserts, music provided by two local DJs and games for the children. This is a fun way to feed your whole family and support a great cause, at the same time."

One Senior Place will host "Food for Thought" on Thursday, Aug. 21 from 5 to 8 p.m.

In the event of severe weather, contact One Senior Place for details about a rain date.

One Senior Place is located at 8085 Spyglass Hill Road, Viera.
