INDIALANTIC -- Do you have the gift of song? Do you enjoy performing and lending your talents?

If so, a local vocal ensemble is looking for a few new members.

On Saturday, Aug. 2, the Indialantic Chamber Singers will host auditions for a limited number of chorister positions at two Space Coast locations.

The first auditions will take place at Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Indialantic from 10 a.m. until noon, with the second group of auditions hosted at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Viera from 1 until 3 p.m.

Long considered the Space Coast's premier choral ensemble, the Indialantic Chamber Singers host free concerts throughout Brevard and Indian River County.

"We currently have about 35 singers," said Tony Spadafora, Indialantic Chamber Singers president. "Since it is a chamber group, we like to keep the size somewhere in the range of 35 to 40, but we will consider more if it makes sense for the group, overall."

The ICS is especially looking for bass and second soprano section singers.

Mr. Spadafora asked that ensemble hopefuls be prepared to sing scales, match pitch and do a sight-reading exercise, in addition to bringing one song -- that is classical in nature -- to sing.

"Our new artistic director Ryan Kasten will hear all of the auditions," Mr. Spadafora added. "Candidates should please bring an extra copy of their music of the accompanist. Those auditioning should also write down their relevant singing experience for Mr. Kasten."

In the event that an ICS hopeful cannot attend either audition, Mr. Spadafora said special arrangements may be made if the candidate contacts the ICS via phone at (321) 426-0360 or email at info@IndialanticChamberSingers.org.

"We continue to be delighted and amazed at the pool of talent we have right here in Brevard County," Mr. Spadafora said. "Many of our members have music degrees, are music teachers or sing in other groups. We hold ourselves to a high standard, which has helped us become Brevard's premier choral ensemble."

The Indialantic Chamber Singers will host auditions on Saturday, Aug. 2 at Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Indialantic from 10 a.m. to noon and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Viera from 1 to 3 p.m.

Eastminster Presbyterian Church is located at 106 N. Riverside Dr., Indialantic.

St. John the Evangelist Church is located at 5655 Stadium Parkway, Viera.

To schedule an audition, email info@IndialanticChamberSingers.org with your voice part, past experience and location choice.
