Gateway Center for the Arts presents "The Sugar Bean Sisters," a play written by Nathan Sanders and directed by Jenny Sejansky at 7:30 p.m. May 30, 31 and June 6 and 7 and 2:30 p.m. June 1 and 6, at 880 N. U.S. 17/92, DeBary.
"The Sugar Bean Sisters" is a comic drama that deals with sibling love and rivalry, a grapefruit fortune, a mysterious stranger, murder, a murder plot, Disney and aliens -- not in that order.
The Nettles Sisters have been receiving notoriety ever since Faye's newspaper interview concerning the aliens that landed in her Daddy's cane field 20 years ago. As a result of the article, the phone calls won't stop and a mysterious stranger visits their shack in the middle of a sugar cane field at the edge of an ancient Florida swamp in a town called Sugar Bean.
Darlene Stewart and Kelly Grounds play Faye and Willie Nettles; Jeanna Carley plays Videllia Sparks; Karen Good plays the Reptile Woman and Michael Sweinhagen is the Bishop Crumley. New River Bluegrass will be performing pre-show on opening night, May 30.
Tickets are $12 members, $15 advanced, $18 at the door. Call Gateway for information on group sales.
Tickets can be purchased through the box office at (386) 668-5553.
