COCOA -- Don't make any dinner plans on Thursday, May 8, as El Charro Fine Mexican Food in Cocoa will host the third annual "Cinco de Critters" fundraiser, benefiting the Central Brevard Humane Society, from 5 to 9 p.m.

Featuring a "Barkarita" Yappy Hour from 5 to 7 p.m. and a silent auction, the Humane Society will receive 15 percent of all proceeds from evening.

"The owners of the restaurant are animal lovers and wanted to help our organization by doing a different type of fundraiser," said Eileen Cole, media relations manager for the Central Brevard Humane Society.

Ms. Cole encourages all interested community members to come early for the "Barkarita" Yappy Hour, followed by a traditional Mexican dinner, all while enjoying festive activities throughout the evening.

"A truly unique organization in Brevard, the Central Brevard Humane Society is a 'no-kill-for-space' facility, and is self-sustaining, receiving no support from tax-dollars," Ms. Cole said. "All of its funding comes through donations, adoption fees, product sales, its four Molly Mutt Thrift Shops, fundraisers, its Merritt Island Adoption Center and other pet-related services."

Funds from "Cinco de Critters" will help the Central Brevard Humane Society purchase food and provide shelter and medical care for the homeless animals that are cared for at the shelter in Cocoa, as well as the Adoption Center on Merritt Island.

"This is a great evening out with family or friends, while helping the animals at our Cocoa and Merritt Island facilities," Ms. Cole said.

El Charro Fine Mexican Food will host "Cinco de Critters" on Thursday, May 8 from 5 to 9 p.m.

All funds raised will benefit the Central Brevard Humane Society.

El Charro Fine Mexican Food is located at 916 Florida Ave., Cocoa.

To make a reservation, call El Charro at (321) 639-1004.
