For Hometown News

The 42nd annual Art in the Park will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 3, and Sunday, May 4, at Rockefeller Gardens in Ormond Beach.

Art and crafts entries will be judged. In the fine arts category, a single award of $1,500 will be made for "Best in Show," which will be displayed at the Ormond Memorial Art Museum. Eight others, four fine artists and four crafters will receive a total of eight awards: First Place $400, Second Place $300, Merit Award $200 and Honorable Mention $100.

A recent addition to this year's event is Suzanne Altamare, who is a Grand Master Sand Sculptor and celebrity sculptor for the Travel Channel's Sand Blasters. She will sculpt a rendering of The Casements, beginning work from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and completing the project from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

For the young artists, the event will feature a Kids' Craft Zone (free), which will be inside The Casements. Kids are invited to come and make a special gift for their mother for Mother's Day.

The Docs of Jazz, Bobby Meeks and Island Hillbillies will perform on Saturday. Dan Allen, 2 Guys with Horns, Dan Allen and Tie Dye Road will perform on Sunday.

Food vendors will include Greg's Seafood and Bar-B-Q, Joe's Lemonade, Hershey's Ice Cream and Holy Cow Kettle Corn.

The Casements will be open for tours on both days, which includes the Children's Art Exhibit in The Gallery presented by the Ormond Beach Art Guild.

Free parking is available at The Casements and at Fortunato Park.
