BREVARD -- Local nonprofits will be on display, while Brevard's best salsa will be chosen at the 10th annual Fiesta Brevard on Friday, April 25, in Cocoa Beach.

More than 30 organizations will feature information about their local community services, while guests and a panel of judges will taste and award Brevard's Best Salsa 2014, organizers said.

The event will begin at 5 p.m., with a group photo and ribbon cutting, on the promenade of the International Palms Resorts in Cocoa Beach, and it is hosted by the Cocoa Beach Regional Chamber of Commerce Nonprofit Task Force.

"As many as 30 of Brevard's wonderful nonprofit organizations will host booths, along the promenade, giving the community the opportunity to learn about the important services they offer, while also providing increased visibility and fundraising opportunities for these important partners," said Beth Courtney, co-chairwoman of Fiesta Brevard.

A percentage of the fee from each admission ticket sold is kept by the organization that sells it, organizers said.

Each year, local individuals, groups and restaurants compete in both People's Choice and Judges' Choice award categories for Brevard's Best Salsa.

Local celebrity judges include Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey, Cocoa Beach Mayor Dave Netterstrom, candidate for Circuit Court Judge Brooke Deratany Goldfarb and Lori Halbert, host of "Cooking with Lori."

Admission is $10 in advance and $15 at the door.

Ms. Courtney said that everyone would get a voice when it comes to deciding the People's Choice award, after they taste each salsa and select their favorites.

Ms. Courtney also said that there would be more prizes than ever before, with prize-drawing giveaways, including "staycation" packages, with local hotels and attractions.

Attendees can also win a Fiesta Gift Basket, valued at $1,000, which will be filled with gift cards to local restaurants, retailers and attractions.

Grand-prize drawing tickets can be purchased from any participating nonprofit organization for $5 for one or $20 for five.
