Philip Matonti of Fort Pierce, district manager of Gibbons Farm Organics located in Fort Pierce, passes out papaya samples at the Taste of Florida event, bringing together local farmers and consumers to enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables grown in Florida.

University of Florida IFAS Extension offers Taste Of Florida, held at the USDA Horticultural Research Laboratory's annual open house in Fort Pierce on Wednesday, April 2. The event offers the opportunity to meet and greet some of the local farmers, as well as guided tours, experience local fruits and vegetables, and taste dishes prepared from produce donated by area growers and prepared by of Fort Pierce Central High School culinary students.
