Vero Beach resident crowned Ms. Senior Florida

TREASURE COAST -- Julianne Talley from Vero Beach was crowned Ms. Senior Florida 2014 presented by Regency Park and the VNA of the Treasure Coast to a capacity audience.

Even though the pageant was held at the Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center, the contestants are from all over the state, including Viera, Palm Bay, Melbourne, Cocoa, Port St. Lucie, Tequesta, Lake Worth and The Villages.

"All the contestants are ladies of elegance and all are winners," said Hedi Headley, state pageant director and host of 'Your Second 50 Years' radio show.

Ms. Talley's court consists of Phyllis Irvine first runner up from Cocoa Beach; Ann Pelle, second runner up from The Villages; Sybil Yocum, third runner up from Viera; Geraldine King, fourth runner up from Vero Beach.

Gilda Russonello from Vero Beach received the trophy for Best Philosophy, Phyllis Irvine from Cocoa Beach, Best Evening Gown Presentation, Best Talent Julianne Talley and the Congeniality award was given to Lauren Lucchini from Vero Beach.

Ages of the ladies of elegance ranged from 60 to 86.

Betsy Horn the 2013 Ms. Senior Florida performed vocals and gave a glowing farewell speech. The newly crowned winner Julianne Talley will attend the national competition that takes place in October at the Resorts Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City.

The presenting sponsors for the pageant are Regency Park, the independent senor living community in Vero Beach, and the VNA of the Treasure Coast with VNA Home Health and Hospice.

Other sponsors include Hometown News, Ocean 97.1FM, Aloha Home Care, Senior Scene, Heartbeat, Palm Garden, Ocean Drive Plastic Surgery Center, Minuteman Press, Parvus Center, Vero Beach Portfolio, Aaron's Hearing and Something Special Floral Boutique.

The 2014 Ms. Senior Florida Pageant judges were Dora Barber, vice president, sales and marketing with Harbor Retirement Associates; Dennis DiGloria, executive director of Palm Garden; Dr. Alan Durkin, Oceandrive Plastic Surgery; Karen Ritchie, vice president VNA Hospice; and Jeffrey Mayer, sales manager, Hometown News.
