Volusia County's six Catholic schools are working together from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 22, to conduct a countywide Canned Food Drive.
Students and their parents from all the Catholic schools will volunteer at six Publix locations and collect canned food and monetary donations to benefit Catholic Charities of Central Florida's food pantries in Volusia as well as all Catholic parishes' food pantries in Volusia.
The food pantries are experiencing severe food shortages and the food drive will help to restock the shelves with needed supplies.
The list of canned and boxed foods most needed includes: tuna, chicken, pork and beans, Chef Boyardee pastas, spaghetti sauce, boxed pasta, peanut butter, jelly, dried/powdered milk, macaroni and cheese, vegetables, corn, and beans.
Personal products needed are diapers (size 3, 4, 5, 6), wipes and toilet paper.
All food and monetary collections will go directly to the food pantries in need.
