ST. LUCIE COUNTY -- Several local couples will share Valentine's Day nuptials during a joint ceremony performed by Clerk Joe Smith.
Twenty lovebirds are being given the opportunity to get married at the clerk's annual group wedding ceremony at Fairwinds Golf Course in Fort Pierce.
A wedding cake, roses, floral arrangements, hors d'oeuvres, and photography are among the many services being donated by businesses.
"It's great to see the community come together to support such a wonderful event," said Clerk Smith. "Their involvement provides a ceremony some couples would not be able to have otherwise and allows them to fully enjoy the happiest day of their lives."
Twelve years ago, Aundrea Wilks and Lavoris Hair, friends from high school, started dating. Though they have considered themselves married for a while now, they decided to make things official on Valentine's Day.
"We've been planning to get married for some time now," Ms. Wilks said. "We're really excited to be a part of the ceremony. We've done lots of preparation and think this is perfect timing."
For April Symonds and Antonio Fields, this wedding ceremony is the final piece to their journey.
"We've been together for about two years now and Antonio asked me to marry him on the day our daughter was born in March last year," Ms. Symonds said. "She will be a year old next month and this is perfect. We're really excited to get married and we're getting the final things taken care of, but we're so happy to have this opportunity."
Fairwinds Golf Course will be the perfect backdrop for the nuptials.
"Fairwinds has some of the most spectacular views and natural landscapes of any golf course in St. Lucie County," said Juliann Freitas, director of food and beverage at DiMichelli's at Fairwinds. "The course is surrounded by serene lakes and offers and a beautiful location for an affordable wedding."
Along with Fairwinds Golf Course, Chaney's House O' Flowers; A Piece of Cake; DiMichelli's Catering; A Kiss ByA Rose; Michael Todd Lee photography and Cardita Formal Wear all offered free of discounted services.
