Florida Hospital Fish Memorial has donated nearly $5,000 worth of clinic supplies, such as hand sanitizer, exam gloves, thermometer probe covers, exam table paper, Band-Aids and tongue depressors, to West Volusia County public schools.
Pat Travis, Volusia County Schools Volunteer and Partnership Programs Facilitator, said the program has grown from when it was initiated in 1998, first benefitting 17 schools and now 23.
The schools that have received the clinic supplies are DeBary Elementary, Deltona High, Deltona Lakes Elementary, Deltona Middle, Discovery Elementary, Enterprise Elementary, Forest Lake Elementary, Friendship Elementary, Galaxy Middle, Heritage Middle, Ivy Hawn Charter, Manatee Cove Elementary, Orange City Elementary, Osteen Elementary, Pine Ridge High, Pride Elementary, Reading Edge Academy, River Springs Middle, Spirit Elementary, Sunrise Elementary, Timbercrest Elementary, University High, and Volusia Pines Elementary.
This program is another example of the hospital's Christian mission. In 2013, Florida Hospital Volusia/Flagler collectively contributed nearly $104 million in benefits to the underprivileged, the community's overall health and wellness and spiritual needs, and capital improvements.
