PORT ST. LUCIE -- Jeff Bremer has a vision for the city of Port St. Lucie.
The newly sworn in city manager feels that a consistent level of leadership throughout the city will move the area forward.
"I'm truly excited to be in this position," Mr. Bremer said.
The community celebrated Mr. Bremer's swearing in on Wednesday, Jan. 29 at the Port St. Lucie Community Center.
"The economic development of the area is essential," said Mr. Bremer. "We want to expand the amount of businesses in the area and also bring more money into the local economy by making sure the businesses that are already in place are successful."
Mr. Bremer has been serving as the interim City Manager since Feb. 2013. He was hired as the assistant City Manager in Nov. 2012.
On Monday, Jan. 13 at the regular city council meeting, Mayor JoAnn Faiella and the city council voted to approve the city manager's employment contract.
The City Manager is appointed by majority vote by all members of the City Council. The City Manager is the chief administrative officer of the city and is responsible to the City Council for the administration of all city affairs placed in his charge by or under the City Charter.
"This is such an awesome city," Mr. Bremer said. "There are so many opportunities here and so many wonderful aspects to the area. From the water, to the natural resources, to the affordable housing for families, Port St. Lucie is a great area. I'm looking forward to being a part of the city growing."
