Downtown event to include games, food trucks

Dream Center Treasure Coast is having an event Feb 15, from 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. at the River Walk in Downtown Fort Pierce. There will be a food truck invasion, the fun bus, live music, kid's carnival style games, local entertainment and vendors.

Commissioners seek applicants

Fort Pierce City Commissioners are seeking applications from civic-minded residents to serve on various advisory boards and committees, including the current appointment opportunities for the Planning Board and Board of Adjustment.

The City of Fort Pierce Planning Board meets the second Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. in the Fort Pierce City Hall Commission Chambers.

The Board of Adjustment meets the fourth Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. in the Fort Pierce City Hall Commission Chambers.

Members must be a St. Lucie County Resident to be eligible.

Captain to speak about treasure

Captain Bob Bouchlas Sr. will speak Saturday, Feb. 8 on The Treasure Ship "1656" that Mel Fisher Never Found: "The Nuestra Seņora de las Maravillas". The presentation will take place from 5 -6 p.m. at Capt. Bob's Place and Historical Treasure Museum, 101 Seaway Drive in Fort Pierce.

The event will be free and open to the public, and Capt. Bob's Famous Oysters will be served complimentary; beer and wine will be available. There will be several intrinsic artifacts on display, including a gold nugget and one of the world's largest uncut emeralds. An auction of treasure coins that were retrieved before the laws were changed will take place following the presentation. There will be on-premises police protection provided.

Discover plants that clean the air

St. Lucie County's Cooperative Extension Horticulture Agent Anita Neal is hosting a free 'Plants that Clean the Air' workshop on Thursday, Feb. 13, from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Fort Pierce Branch Library on Melody Lane.

Join Anita Neal, St. Lucie County UF/IFAS Horticulture agent, to learn more about what plants to use and how to take care of them to help improve the air quality of your home.
