Women's Health Expo taking place Feb.8

Sebastian River Medical Center will host the 12th Annual Women's Health Expo on Saturday, February 8 from 8-11 a.m. This event is open to the public and includes free refreshments and a door prize. At a.m. a special presentation will be held in the dining room titled "Small Changes Can Bring Big Rewards", conducted by Brenda Field, MD, board certified in Internal Medicine. This will provide information about making lifestyle changes for improved health.

All attendees should enter the event through the Diagnostic Center's main entrance located just north of the Emergency Room in the main parking lot of the hospital.

The Source opens as cold weather shelter

The Source will open for cold night shelter when temperatures are forecasted to drop below 35 degrees Fahrenheit or 40 degrees with rain. Decision for action is usually made by noon of a shelter day.

The Source will provide cold night shelter at its facility located at 1015 Commerce Ave., in Vero Beach. Dinner is served at 5 p.m. on shelter days. Guests must arrive no later than 9 pm. Breakfast will be provided the following morning.

The Source is the only drop-in outreach ministry in Indian River County, open six days a week, providing hot meals, emergency food boxes, clothing, basic hygiene items, showers and laundering facilities, mail and phone services, job readiness programs, and cooperative community agency referrals.

The Source is in need of snacks, coffee, creamer, and pastries for morning breakfast.

They are located at 1015 Commerce Ave, Vero Beach.

Sign-up for spring coed youth baseball

Registration for Indian River County Recreation Baseball is in full swing. Registration is first come, first served so sign up today. Practices will begin in late March, early April, and games will begin in April.

Games will be at South County Regional Park, Hobart Park, and North County Regional Park. Registration is $35 per player and $150 per team sponsor. Players will be supplied with a shirt, hat, and season ending trophy.

Tot Time Tee Ball - 4 to 5 yr. olds

Mighty mites - 6-7 and 8-9 yr. olds

Youth Baseball 10-12 yr. olds

Sr. Youth Baseball 13-16 yr. olds

Birth Certificate required upon registration.

Annual dance taking place Feb. 22

The Indian River County Recreation Department is offering a chance for girls to take their dads out on a date. Fathers and their little girls are invited to 13th annual Daddy Daughter Dance. The cost is $32.10 per couple, which includes food. Additional children are $5.35 per person. The event is for children ages 3-9 and will take place Feb.22. The Polish American Social Club will become party central again this year for dancing, music, food, and entertainment. The fun will start at 6 p.m. and will last until 8:30 p.m. Get there early for pictures, which will begin at 5:3p.m.

Registration has already begun and is limited to the first 220 couples and ends on Feb. 14. Register at any of these locations: County Administration Bldg., North County Aquatic Center, or Gifford Aquatic Center or visit www.ircrec.com. For more information, call (772) 226-1732.
