STUART -- For 24 years, Linda Delgado MacLeod has been bringing the joy of sound back into the lives of people who thought hearing footsteps in the hallways and the trickle of running water was a thing of the past.
Ms. MacLeod is an English- and Spanish-speaking certified clinical audiologist with a master's degree in audiology and owner of The Hear Care Center in Stuart. She offers professional care in a friendly atmosphere to patients of any age with any level of hearing impairment.
She listens to, tests and cleans hearing aids, offers hearing diagnostics, complete evaluations and free consultations to ensure each individual gets exactly the hearing aid or treatments that they need.
"I take my time with each patient," Ms. MacLeod said. "They know that I'm really here to help them."
And if she can't she'll refer them to a physician who can.
"I'm looking out for their medical and hearing needs," Ms. MacLeod said.
But she's about more than service; she's about education. Ms. MacLeod ensures that the people who come into her office leave with a full understanding of their options and what will be best for their individual situation.
"There are so many different types, quality and prices of hearing aids, people don't always know where to go or who to ask and what's right for them," said Ms. MacLeod. "I just try to educate the people."
Once she has, she said there's nothing like seeing the shock and joy on their faces as they realize what simple sounds they've being missing out on for months or years.
"It's so satisfying and gratifying," Ms. MacLeod said.
In addition to helping her patients hear again, The Hear Care Center also offers fine tuning, follow up care for the life of the hearing aid, and a wide variety of brands and price points so MacLeod can bring the joy of sound back into as many lives as possible.
The Hear Care Center is located at 2219 S. Kanner Highway in Stuart and can be reached by phone at (772) 283-3000.
