BREVARD -- Get into the loving mood with your sweetie next weekend, as Swingtime presents its annual "Sweetheart's Ball" on Friday, Jan. 31 from 7 to 10 p.m.

Tickets for the ball, which will take place at the Melbourne Auditorium, are $5 in advance and $7 at the door.

Tables can also be reserved in advance for six or more people. There is no charge for reserving a table.

"Swingtime has been hosting the 'Sweetheart's Ball' for many years and always draws a large crowd," said Art Martin, conductor.

The Sweetheart's Ball set list is filled with a variety of classic favorites, sure to please the audience.

"Some of the songs performed will be 'In the Mood,' 'Bandstand Boogie,' 'My Funny Valentine,' 'Mack the Knife,' waltzes, ballads and Latin tunes," Mr. Martin said. "There is always a variety of music to please everyone."

Those who would like to brush up on their dance skills prior to the Sweetheart's Ball can do so from 6 to 7 p.m., as Laura Beers will offer dance lessons for $5.

Mr. Martin said that Swingtime really enjoys playing for the dancers, as well as those who just come to listen.

"It's great to be playing and see all the dancers on the floor," he added.

Sure to be a good time for all, Swingtime's Sweetheart's Ball offers Brevard County residents an opportunity to dance along with a 20-piece big band, complete with two vocalists, for less than $10 per person.

"People who enjoy dancing to live music should definitely attend this event," Mr. Martin said. "It is also a night out with your sweetheart."
