One Senior Place to host second annual 'Holiday Cookie Extravaganza'

By Amanda Hatfield Anderson

Staff Writer

BREVARD -- Seniors and boomers are invited to take a break from the madness of the holiday season and enjoy some sweet treats.

On Friday, Dec. 20, One Senior Place will host its "Holiday Cookie Extravaganza" at noon. Attendees of the event, which is now in its second year, will be able to enjoy a variety of homemade cookies, followed by a classic holiday film.

"The 'Cookie Extravaganza' is sponsored by One Senior Place and features the baking skills of our many business affiliates," said Kathi Ridner, director. "The movie is sponsored by Whittaker Cooper Financial Group."

Voting is currently underway to determine the movie shown at the "Holiday Cookie Extravaganza" through Wednesday, Dec. 18.

Voters can choose from the following options: "White Christmas," featuring Bing Crosby and Rosemary Clooney; "It's a Wonderful Life," with Jimmy Stewart; "Miracle on 34th Street," featuring Natalie Wood; or "A Christmas Carol," with Alistair Sim as "Scrooge."

"We wanted to offer an afternoon of fun and relaxation during the busiest time of year," Ms. Ridner said. "The great thing about this event is that people don't have to bake and bring cookies because it's not an exchange."

Some of the businesses baking cookies for the event include Senior Partner In-Home Care, Whittaker Cooper Financial Group, Personal Hearing Solutions and VITAS Innovative Hospice.

"People can just come and enjoy the delicious baked goods," Ms. Ridner said. "It's a great opportunity to relax, laugh a little, maybe cry a little -- depending on the movie -- and have a good time."

One Senior Place will host the Holiday Cookie Extravaganza on Friday, Dec. 20, beginning at noon.

One Senior Place is located at 8085 Spyglass Hill Road, Viera.

To vote or RSVP to the Holiday Cookie Extravaganza, call One Senior Place at (321) 751-6771 or on Facebook at www.Facebook.com/OneSeniorPlaceSpaceCoast.
