BREVARD -- Come celebrate the holiday season with the Space Coast Symphony Wind Ensemble as it presents a free holiday concert on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 3 p.m. at the Scott Center for Performing Arts at Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy.
Full of classic holiday favorites, rumor has it that Santa Claus is expected to make a special appearance at Sunday's concert.
"My absolute favorite holiday arrangement is Leroy Anderson's 'Christmas Festival.' It has remained a classic and part of the standard repertoire for more than 60 years," said Aaron Collins, artistic director. "We're also very excited to present some works that our audiences may be unfamiliar with, such as 'Russian Christmas Music' and 'Rocky Point Holiday.'"
Mr. Collins said that both are tour de force compositions that will highlight the phenomenal wind ensemble the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra has put together for this concert.
Along with a special appearance from Old Saint Nick, Mr. Collins said there will be a bevy of entertaining surprises for all who attend Sunday's free concert.
"There will be an opportunity for children to come up on stage and conduct the wind ensemble," he said. "Both parents and children will get a big kick out of it."
Featuring classic holiday music, as well as a few new tunes to enjoy, Mr. Collins and the SCSO Wind Ensemble want people to leave Sunday's performance tingling with the magic of the season.
"This is a great opportunity to hear some high-end and high octane arrangements of holiday music, performed by some of the state's best wind players," Mr. Collins said. "It will be a fun show for all."
The Space Coast Symphony Orchestra Wind Ensemble will host a free holiday concert on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 3 p.m. at the Scott Center for Performing Arts at Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy.
