BREVARD -- Pregnancy Resources has a new face joining the team.

Pilar Blanchard was appointed the new executive director for Pregnancy Resources.

Ms. Blanchard is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the center, as well as implementing necessary programs to meet client needs, and the policies and procedures approved by the Board of Directors.

Ms. Blanchard previously worked at Pregnancy Resources as the client services manager for three years, after serving as a volunteer. Prior to joining the nonprofit, she spent 10 years as a human resources professional for corporations including Reebok International, Delta Airlines and TJX Companies.

Linda Evans, board president of Pregnancy Resources, said she is confident Ms. Blanchard is the perfect person for the job.

"Pilar's extensive experience in human resources, management, project development and crisis intervention counseling uniquely qualify her to serve as executive director of Pregnancy Resources," she said. "During her years as client services manager, Pilar greatly increased the scope and effectiveness of her department. She developed and implemented an extensive training program for volunteer client advocates, which includes more than 60 hours of classroom instruction and 12 weeks of one-on-one mentoring."

Pregnancy Resources provides free services, education and support in a compassionate environment to women and families facing an unexpected pregnancy.

The services offered include: free pregnancy testing; free limited obstetrical ultrasound; peer counseling; free parenting classes; childbirth education and referrals for additional services; and a Baby Mart Retail Store, where childrens' and toddlers' clothing and furniture is sold.

Pregnancy Resources is located at 165 N. Babcock St. in Melbourne.

For more information about any of Pregnancy Resources' programs or services, call the center at (321) 752-5540 or visit www.melbournepri.com.
