MARTIN COUNTY -- House of Hope's first-ever fundraising gala promises to make history as the agency kicks off its 30th anniversary year.
The "Hope for the Future" Gala will be held 6-11 p.m. Jan. 11, 2014, at Willoughby Golf Club, Stuart.
Guests are encouraged to come dressed in the attire of their favorite era as they "travel through time" during the evening's festivities.
The time travel theme is designed to celebrate House of Hope's past while looking to the future.
Over the past 30 years, the agency has served tens of thousands of local families with life's basic necessities - including food for about three million meals and more than $2 million in financial assistance to help Martin County residents stay safe in their homes, with electricity, water and needed medicine.
Participants in the gala will be investing in efforts that elevate the quality of life for all county residents. The gala will raise funds to make sure House of Hope can respond to growing demands for food and operate Project HOPE services that empower local families, individuals, seniors and veterans to overcome hardship and strive toward self-sufficiency.
The Hope for the Future gala will feature cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, a photo booth, dinner, dancing to the music of Private Stock, and the opening of a time capsule. A Pick-Your-Prize special drawing will feature golf, travel and gourmet dinner experiences plus custom jewelry.
The event co-chairwomen are volunteers Pat Bartlett and Deb Lovequist, and the grand benefactor is Elisabeth Lahti. Further sponsorships are sought.
Reservations are $250 per person and can be made by contacting House of Hope resource coordinator Terri May at firstname.lastname@example.org or (772) 286-4673, Ext. 1011, or visit www.hohmartin.org/gala.
