BREVARD -- Get in the holiday spirit with the women of the Junior League of South Brevard, as its members host the 29th annual Festival of Trees.

This family-friendly event takes place on Saturday, Nov. 16 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 17 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Viera Regional Community Center.

An annual community fundraiser, the Festival of Trees allows the Junior League of South Brevard to continue to improve Brevard through financial and volunteer commitments.

"There is something for everyone at the Festival of Trees," said Dana Morgan, vice president of fundraising. "We have entertainment provided by local talent, beautifully decorated wreaths and trees of all sizes, a marketplace perfect for holiday shopping, savory and sweet treats and drinks, raffles, handmade home décor, crafts and games for the kids and -- of course -- Santa Claus."

Mrs. Morgan said that new to the Festival of Trees is a "Featured Artists" exhibit, in which local decorators will donate trees and other décor available for silent auction.

Known to have a range of exquisitely decorated trees of all sizes, the Festival of Trees also provides attendees with many different ideas when it comes to decorating their own Christmas trees.

"I think my favorite was done by the BCC Interior Design Club a few years ago," Mrs. Morgan said. "It was shade of blue, from teal to violet, and had peacock feathers. Not traditional, but so beautiful."

The holiday marketplace is completely packed with items made by the women of the Junior League of South Brevard, with local businesses and individuals donating roughly two-thirds of the items for sale.

"We have a wide variety of goods this year, including toys, jewelry, high-end knives, photography, holiday ornaments and spa products," Mrs. Morgan added.

Festival of Trees attendees will also have the opportunity to win some incredible prizes that will be raffled off, including packages for families full of gift certificates for restaurants, movies, games and events and packages for romantic date nights, as well as packages perfect for the sports enthusiast in your life and to pamper yourself with.

"The Festival of Trees is not only a fun family-friendly day with something for everyone, but all proceeds go to support our community projects," Mrs. Morgan said. "Our focus is improving the lives of children through nutrition and physical activity. Our project is called 'Fueling Kids,' which provides students and two local elementary schools with healthy snacks and after-school activities."

The Festival of Trees, hosted by the Junior League of South Brevard, is Saturday, Nov. 16 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 17 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Viera Regional Community Center.

The Viera Regional Community Center is located at 2300 Judge Fran Jamieson Way, Viera.
