BREVARD -- While the warmer-than-normal temperatures may have some Brevard County residents still in the "summer-loving" mood, 2014 is just around the corner.

Ring in the new year with a 2014 "Best Pets of Brevard" calendar from the Central Brevard Humane Society, now available for $10 at the shelter or at any of its four Molly Mutt Thrift Shops, as well as its new Merritt Island Adoption Center, local veterinary offices and online.

Gracing the cover of the 22nd annual calendar are "Burl," "Nadine" and "Farrah," three adorable terrier pups living the life on their yacht.

The 2014 "Best Pets of Brevard" calendar also features an "In Loving Memory" section, which includes pets that have passed away, as well as honorable mentions, "Paws of Distinction" and money-saving coupons.

"The Central Brevard Humane Society started the 'Best Pets of Brevard' as a fundraiser, in which proceeds would be used to help raise awareness and financial support for the homeless pets that visit the shelter each year," said Eileen Cole, media relations manager for the Humane Society. "These pets are in need of a safe and loving 'forever' home."

With more than 200 entries for the 2014 calendar -- all of which were printed -- parents of fuzzy, feathered and scaly children were asked to send in horizontal, color photographs, with no humans in the picture. Pet photos were then blind-judged by a panel of professional photographers.

The Central Brevard Humane Society's 2014 "Best Pets of Brevard" calendars are now available for $10 each.

Calendars can be purchased at the Central Brevard Humane Society, at any of its four Molly Mutt Thrift Shops, located in Melbourne, Merritt Island, Palm Bay and Rockledge, as well as its new Merritt Island Adoption Center, local veterinary offices and online at www.crittersavers.com.

The Central Brevard Humane Society is located at 1020 Cox Road, Cocoa.
