The Little Theatre of New Smyrna Beach will host the upcoming World Premiere of "Defending Lizzie."
Karen Poulsen, Little Theatre member and playwright, takes a fresh look at the case of Lizzie Borden in her play, which is set to open at the Little Theatre on Friday, Oct. 25.
Just in time for Halloween, this real life murder mystery is directed by Shelly Wawrzonek. In the play, a diary is discovered that leads to surprising revelations about the Borden household. Strange incidents occur, beginning with a theft in broad daylight, suspicions of poison and threats against Lizzie's father. The suspense continues right up to the end of the play.
Sarah de la Hoz stars as Lizzie Borden. Other cast members include Scott Bailey, Gary Broughman, Savannah Earl, John Hardebeck, Barbara O'Connell, Terence Van Auken, Carrie Van Tol, Tosha Williams and Harriet Winokur. The production team includes Stage Manager Carol Choma; Costumer Ida Bailey; set design by Becky Abramowitz, Ted Pack, Shelly Wawrzonek and Noel Bickford; Lighting Designer Noel Bickford; Sound Designer Steve Ente; and Technical Director Dan Blazi.
