TREASURE COAST -- Indian River State College is providing international travel opportunities to help students become fully informed and engaged citizens of the world.

Unforgettable experiences of a lifetime await participants of any of the six study abroad trips offered by IRSC in 2014.

"We've found that students who participate in study abroad experiences develop a much broader understanding of current events, history, art, humanities, business and economics, as well as a deeper appreciation of other cultures," shared Dr. Mary Locke, IRSC Vice President of Instructional Services/Provost and Chairman of the sponsoring Global Initiatives Committee.

IRSC's 2014 Study Abroad trips to Eastern Caribbean, Spain, Italy, Australia & New Zealand, Prague, and Costa Rica will provide educational, cultural and hands-on learning experiences.

Eastern Caribbean, March 22-29 (spring break) - Students will experience the culture, customs, language, history and natural wonders of the Grand Turk Islands, St. Martin, Bahamas, San Juan, and Puerto Rico.

Spain, May 12-22 - Students will enhance their cultural, historical and linguistic knowledge, as well as learning concepts of celestial navigation.

Florence, Italy, May 6-16 - Students will be immersed in the Italian Medieval and Renaissance periods in architecture and also experience museums, opera, theatre and cultural enrichment for a study in humanities.

Australia and New Zealand, May 15-26 - Students will explore Sydney and Auckland to experience its history, culture, and customs and learn how to apply global economics.

Prague, May 18-June 15 - Students will interact with Czech Life Science University of Prague students and learn about multinational businesses and commerce with side trips to Germany and Austria.

Service Learning in Costa Rica, June 29-July 12, immerses students in the Spanish language while they assist the residents of Costa Rica.

All trips include the guidance of an experienced IRSC faculty member, and participants earn college credits through completion of assignments related to their study abroad experiences.
