PORT ST. LUCIE -- With the expansion of the Port St. Lucie Parks and Recreation 2013 Winter Junior Basketball program, volunteer coaches, assistant coaches and scorekeepers are needed more than ever. Nearly 700 players ages 10 to 17 are signed up to play this season.
The season will begin soon and ends in late January, 2014. Teams play games at the Port St. Lucie Civic Center and Minsky Gym. Each division participates in playoffs.
For parents and family members of players, coaching a team is a great way to spend more time with your children while they enjoy playing their favorite sport. Anyone passionate about basketball is encouraged to volunteer his or her time and help make this popular program successful.
Volunteer coaches must be 18 years of age or older and must undergo an FDLE Level II background clearance process. To serve as a volunteer scorekeeper, you must be at least 16 years of age and an application is required.
