For Hometown News

The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity in partnership with Deloitte will launch a new way to claim unemployment benefits, update and monitor accounts and respond to requests for information.

Known as Connect, the new system will provide the unemployed with better service and convenience, beginning Tuesday, Oct. 15.

The department's Contact Center will be 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday to help claimants with Connect. The Contact Center phone number is (800) 204-2418, or visit floridajobs.org/connect.

Claimants who do not claim their weeks by noon, Oct. 9, may not claim those weeks until 8 a.m., Oct. 15. Claimants who do not follow these instructions, will likely experience delays with their payments.
