TREASURE COAST -- ChemDry By The Sea of Martin and St. Lucie counties, a local carpet and upholstery cleaning business, is participating in Chem-Dry's nationwide partnership with the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

Through its Cleaning for the Cause fundraising program, Chem-Dry has raised more than $100,000 nationally for NBCF over the past two years to support breast cancer education and plans to significantly grow that number this year.

The Chem-Dry franchise chose to partner with NBCF because breast cancer affects so many lives, nearly 200,000 each year, and is such a personal cause and concern for many of its franchise owners as well as its customers, who are mostly women.

"It's great to know that our fundraising efforts in Martin and St. Lucie are making a difference for people here and around the country whose lives have been or will be devastated by this horrible disease," said Gregg Pizzi, owner of ChemDry By The Sea, whose mother in-law lost her battle with breast cancer in the 90s. "My Chem-Dry team works in close to 2,500 homes each year and we see a desperate need for help, support, education and most of all, a cure for breast cancer. We encourage the community to help us make an even larger impact for this important cause this year."

Chem-Dry locations across the country are rallying together to combat this disease and bring help and hope to the lives of those affected by breast cancer.

Through the "Cleaning for the Cause" campaign, Martin County and St. Lucie County customers can purchase Chem-Dry's World Famous Spot Remover in specially designed pink cans directly from ChemDry By The Sea. Each pink can purchased includes an automatic $1 donation to NBCF.

With ChemDry By The Sea upping the stakes by pledging to donate five percent of their customer's carpet , upholstery or tile cleaning cost to The National Breast Cancer Foundation by writing a check to the NBCF and giving it to the homeowner to send in directly.

Homeowners can support the cause by scheduling a cleaning during this holiday season through Dec. 31 and mentioning "The Cleaning for the Cause" campaign.
