As of Oct. 1, the UCP/WORC will officially disaffiliate from United Cerebral Palsy and have a corporate name change to Work Orientation Rehabilitation Center Inc.
"We were honored to be a part of such a great affiliation, but there was too much confusion in the community about what type of disability services and programs we offer not just cerebral palsy services and programs. WORC's programs and services are open to all disabilities not just cerebral palsy," said Craig Byrd, President/CEO of WORC Inc., in a news release
"There was just too much disconnect in the community stemming from our name and it just made sense to go back to our roots," Mr. Byrd said. "We are very happy to go back to our original name of the founding organization which is very familiar to our community."
WORC has provided adult education, vocational training, residential living, and other services to all individuals with disabilities since 1969. The total conversion of name, emails, and website became effective Oct. 1. The new website is www.worcinc.org and website design services were donated by Valorbound of New Smyrna Beach.
