Spruce Creek Country Club is a special setting for events and can even provide something really extra, such as at a recent wedding.
"She said the bride has a special presentation for the groom, so everybody, all 150 people, walked out to the deck area and we did a four-man flyover. And he was very emotional," said Sammi Cattoni, the club's food and beverage director.
The flyover was presented by members of the Spruce Creek Country Club pilots, according to Ms. Cattoni.
With an airstrip within the gated community, many members fly their own planes to activities at the club, often providing fly-overs on special occasions, such as the wedding.
While Spruce Creek Country Club is a private membership club that offers golf, tennis, a fitness center and pool, it also is open to the public for golf tournaments, banquets, weddings, class reunions, dances, meetings, anniversary parties, sweet 16 parties, luaus and Quinceañeras.
"A lot of people think (Spruce Creek Fly-in) and Spruce Creek Country Club is private ... that you can't come out here for things like this," Ms. Cattoni said.
While they are a members-only country club, she said, "We're open to the community and the public for banquets and weddings and events like that. We have Ponce Inlet Corvette Club coming here for their holiday party (as well as) Silver Sands Bridle Club. I do a lot of holiday and anniversary parties."
Ms. Cattoni is an energetic, enthusiastic and articulate spokeswoman for Spruce Creek as she talks about the meeting and banquet services. Their renowned Chef Zsolt is a native of Hungary and her praise for his expertise and "degree of delicious" is nonpareil. He also is quite talented as a fruit carver. Both Chef Zsolt and Ms. Cattoni have been at the club for about five years.
The club has served up to 350 people with food (hors d' oeuvres). And while the kitchen is not kosher, they have served parties with special requests including vegetarian as well as vegan.
The banquet room can host from 25 to 160-170 people, complete with a large hardwood dance floor. The second large area in the clubhouse is called the Prop & Fore in keeping with the fly-in as well as the golf course, and can host as many as 90 people. The bar is tastefully elegant with large scale airplane models suspended from the ceiling.
Ms. Cattoni refers a number of popular DJs as well as live bands that she has used successfully in the past.
"We're flexible with pricing for instance with a banquet menu with prices. We can customize other prices too," she said.
The vista of the golf course, deck, the pool and elegantly appointed Prop and Fore as well as the banquet room make a beautiful backdrop for a memorable event or occasion.
"We have a full service staff here, bartenders, servers; and, when we do weddings, we have staff that do cake service ... it's a full line staff in addition to the full kitchen staff," Ms. Cattoni said.
Someone wishing Spruce Creek to host their event will find they do everything from set-up to break down, she said. "They really don't have any responsibility other than how they want to decorate, which, of course, we help them with that also."
"My degree and training is actually in hospitality management," Ms. Cattoni said.
She also works closely with head golf pro Mike Kelly in planning and coordinating the golf tournaments.
"If you want an elegant, well planned event with no worries, we do ... everything," Ms. Cattoni said.
