Annual Jazz Festival getting in tune

The 13th annual New Smyrna Beach Jazz Festival will take place Sept. 27-29, 2013 at various beachside and mainland locations, including Flagler Avenue, Canal Street Historic District, and Third Avenue, all within The LOOP.

This year's festival is dedicated to the memory of band director Dr. George West of Stetson University, who brought his jazz ensembles to many Jazz Festivals and Images: A Festival of the Arts.

Of the 23 shows, 21 are free admission.

The two-ticketed events are the kick-off party at Traders Sports and Entertainment Pub on Friday and Jacqueline Jones' "Here's to you Billie Holiday" and the great voices of Jazz at the Brannon Center on Sunday.

Friday, Sept. 27

Kick-off party, Traders Sports and Entertainment Pub, 317 Flagler Ave., 5:30-7:30 p.m., Marc Monteson Quintet, tickets are $20 in advance, $25 the day of the event.

Kayonne Riley Downtown Quartet, 8-11 p.m., SoNapa Grill, 3406 S. Atlantic Ave.

Saturday, Sept. 28

From 10:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., there are 13 venues in the Flagler Avenue Historic District.

Spruce Creek High School 12 o'clock Jazz Band, 10:30-11 a.m., Akagana with Orlando Sanchez, noon to 3 p.m., presented by Brighthouse Networks, Toni & Joe's Patio, 309 Buenos Aires St.

Crescent City Eagles Dixieland Band, noon-3 p.m., Coronado Community United Methodist Church, 201 S. Peninsula Ave.

Robert Harris Trio, 1-4 p.m., Barracuda's Bar & Grill, 203 S. Atlantic Ave.

Harry Rios Trio, 1-2 p.m., New Smyrna Library, 1001 U.S. 1, presented by The Friends of The Library, Atlantic Center for the Arts and The Jazz Festival.

Cook Trio, 1:30-3:30 p.m., The Hub on Canal, 132 Canal St.

Jacqueline Jones, "Here's to you, Billie Holiday," 2:30-4:30 p.m., Brannon Center, 105 S. Riverside Drive, tickets are $15 in advance, $20 day of the event.
