BREVARD -- A volunteer with a Mims-based horse rescue center is giving back to the organization that has inspired her so much.
Lindsay Hobart of Lindsay Hobart Photography began volunteering her time with the Wild Horse Rescue Center in 2012.
"The experiences that I have gained are a real blessing. As I have spent more and more time with Diane Delano and the horses, the center has become a cause very close to my heart," Mrs. Hobart said.
The Wild Horse Rescue Center focuses on wild mustangs, which have been mistreated by previous owners, in the hopes of gentling them, so they may be adopted into good homes. In the event that the mustangs cannot be gentled, Mrs. Delano keeps them at her rescue center, so they may live out the rest of their lives.
Wanting to further help the Wild Horse Rescue Center, Mrs. Hobart decided to arrange an art show, benefiting the center. The Fundraising Art Show will be hosted at the Down Town Gallery in Titusville on Friday, Sept. 27 from 5 to 9 p.m.
"This is not the first time WHRC has hosted an art show, but it is the first with the Down Town Gallery," Mrs. Hobart said. "This is a family-friendly event."
Attendees will be able to enjoy refreshments, hors d'oeuvres, music, a silent auction and a live painting demonstration by Lil Wonder Thunder, a Wild Horse Rescue Center resident.
"Lil Wonder Thunder is a miniature horse, and he's quite the artist," Mrs. Hobart said. "He's very aggressive and has fun with whatever he's painting. He has a wonderful personality and will be a great treat for anyone attending."
Some items up for auction at the Fundraising Art Show for Wild Horse Rescue Center include paintings by Lil Wonder Thunder, gift baskets with wine, jewelry, spa products and gift cards from Arbonne, which Mrs. Hobart is an independent consultant for. A few of Mrs. Hobart's photographs will also be up for auction.
"Each horse at the rescue center has its own personality, and they've taught me so much," Mrs. Hobart said of the residents at the Wild Horse Rescue Center. "Diane, herself, is a wonderful person and these horses are her life."
Mrs. Hobart added that each horse and animal that has come through the Wild Horse Rescue Center has received the utmost love and care, as Mrs. Delano's passion for animals knows no bounds.
"Any proceeds from this event are going directly to WHRC to help with the cost of taking care of the mustangs," Mrs. Hobart said. "This means feed, hay, vet and farrier care, training, as well as helping the Sanctuary Mustangs return to freedom."
With a main focus to raise awareness on the center and Mrs. Delano's mission of opening a real Mustang Sanctuary in Florida, Mrs. Hobart is excited to host a fundraiser for the Wild Horse Rescue Center.
"The live painting by Lil Wonder Thunder is going to be something people should see," Mrs. Hobart said. "It is a family-friendly event, and we encourage families to make an evening out of it."
The Fundraising Art Show benefiting the Wild Horse Rescue Center is Friday, Sept. 27 at Down Town Gallery in Titusville, from 5 to 9 p.m.
Down Town Gallery is located at 335 S. Washington Ave., Titusville.
