FORT PIERCE - The First Tee program, an international organization designed to introduce the game of golf to young people, returns to Fairwinds Golf Course, starting Saturday, Sept. 14 at 10:30 a.m.
Designed for ages 7 - 17, the First Tee program covers life skills, core values and healthy habits, which are taught through golf lessons in fun and engaging activates on and off the course.
Founded by the Masters, LPGA, PGA, PGA Tour and the USGA, the First Tee program is intended to impact the lives of young people by providing educational pro-grams that build character, instill life-enhancing values and pro-mote healthy choices through the game of golf.
Open to girls and boys, golfers will be arranged in groups based on age and experience. Each session will last 90 minutes. The cost of the nine-week program is $95. Financial assistance is available for those who qualify.
Since 1997, more than 7.6 million students have participated in The First Tee Program.
Last school year, more than 5,300 elementary schools were offering this unique program.
