September flu shot clinics (Part 2)

The Visiting Nurse Association is offering the following flu shot clinic schedule in September:

Monday, 1-3 p.m. Sept. 16: The Brennity at Melbourne, 7300 Watersong Lane, Melbourne.

Tuesday, 2:30-5:30 p.m. Sept. 17: Wal-Mart, 1040 Malabar Road S.E., Palm Bay.

Wednesday, 1-4 p.m. Sept. 18: Wal-Mart, 1040 Malabar Road S.E., Palm Bay.

Thursday, 10-11:30 a.m. Sept. 19: Annual Community Health Fair, Greater Palm Bay Senior Center, 1275 Culver Drive, Palm Bay.

Thursday, noon to 2 p.m. Sept. 19: Barefoot Bay Wellness Club, South Mainland Library, Barefoot Bay.

Saturday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 21: Wal-Mart, 1000 N. Wickham Road, Melbourne.

Tuesday, 2:30-5:30 p.m. Sept. 24: Wal-Mart, 1040 Malabar Road S.E., Palm Bay.

Wednesday, 1-4 p.m. Sept. 25: Wal-Mart, 1040 Malabar Road S.E., Palm Bay.

Thursday, 2-5 p.m. Sept. 26: Wal-Mart, 1000 N. Wickham Road, Melbourne.

Saturday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 28: Wal-Mart, 1000 N. Wickham Road, Melbourne.

The VNA will offer four types of flu vaccinations: a high-dose vaccine for individuals ages 65 and older, a preservative-free vaccine for individuals 10-64, the regular influenza vaccine for individuals 10 and older, and a new intradermal vaccine, which has a micro-needle designed to be injected into the skin and not the muscle. The intradermal vaccine is for individuals 18-64. All VNA flu vaccines are manufactured in the United States.

The high-dose vaccine is $45, the intradermal is $35 and the regular and preservative-free influenza vaccines are $25.

There is no out-of-pocket expense for individuals with the following insurances: Medicare Part B, AARP Medicare Complete, Advantra Freedom Medicare, Aetna Medicare, Health First Health Plans (regular and preservative-free dose only), Humana Medicare, Railroad Medicare, Secure Horizons, Tricare, United Healthcare Medicare, and Universal Healthcare.

For those covered by other insurances, they will be glad to provide a receipt, which can be filed with insurance providers for possible reimbursement.
