FORT PIERCE -- Carlos Bahamon has worked for the Sears Company for more than 20- years and he firmly believes in their quality and service.

In fact, he believes in them so much that he opened a Sears Hometown Store that offers local residents the same name-brand products, service and quality found at the larger department store, only on a smaller scale and closer to home.

"After I served in the U.S. Air Force, I joined the Sears family," Mr. Bahamon said. "I've worked for them for what seems my whole life. This local Hometown store has been open for just over five years and we offer the same major appliances, warranties, lawn equipment and other items as the bigger stores and what isn't in the showroom can be ordered online and delivered to the store or to the customer's home."

The showroom contains a plethora of washing machines, dryers, refrigerators, lawn mowers, tools and garden supplies and an array of kitchen appliances such as microwaves and coffee makers.

Mr. Bahamon and his family run the store which exudes a genuine hometown feel.

"We like to think of ourselves as a 'Mom and Pop' type store," Mr. Bahamon said. "We build a relationship with our customers. They know that they can call on us for anything. If they are having a problem with hooking up a machine or need guidance with what product to buy, we give them honest, reliable opinions. I visit their homes and help them install items that they may be having trouble with. I care about my customers and I see the same faces come back time and time again, so I know they can tell I'm sincere."

The items in the store are price-matched with the larger department stores. Mr. Bahamon also offers 10 percent of the difference if a customer finds an item at a better price.

"We're confident that we offer the best products and prices," Mr. Bahamon said. "We order parts for car dealerships because they know we offer the best deal around. Customers can also drop off their Sears products that need to be repaired. The product is serviced and then returned to the store where the customer can pick it back up.

Sears has a warehouse in Fort Pierce that services the area from West Palm Beach in the south to Palm Bay in the north, which affords the Fort Pierce store to offer next day delivery service on most products.

The Sears Hometown Store is located 3207 South U.S. 1 in Fort Pierce. The store is open Monday- Friday, from 9 a.m. - 7 p.m.; Saturday from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
