PORT ST. LUCIE -- On Aug. 25, at around 2 p.m., surveillance video from Security Self Storage located at 501 N.W. Business Center Drive, Port St. Lucie, captured the theft of a trailer, F450 truck, and nearly $20,000 in lawn maintenance equipment from the storage facility.
Both the truck and trailer that was stolen had special marking with Northpointe Landscape Maintenance and Design on the sides of the vehicles.
The suspects broke into a small trailer and took the lawn equipment from inside the trailer. They then transferred the lawn equipment to another larger trailer that was parked in the same parking lot. The larger trailer was hooked up to a newer model truck, which the suspects were unable to start.
The suspects disabled the transmission and used the older model truck that was hooked up to the smaller trailer, to push the newer truck out of the way. Once the newer truck that was hooked up to the larger trailer was moved, the suspects backed up the older model truck (which they stole from the same parking lot), hooked up the large trailer with the lawn equipment, then left the storage facility.
Investigation revealed that the suspects took the stolen truck and trailer to I-95 and Crosstown Parkway overpass where they abandoned the trailer. The suspects then drove the stolen truck to Superplay parking lot, 1600 N.W. Courtyard Circle, where they abandoned it.
While the suspects were ditching the stolen truck in the Superplay parking lot, another truck went to Crosstown Parkway and I-95 and picked up the abandoned stolen trailer with the lawn equipment. The trailer and lawn equipment has not yet been recovered.
