FORT PIERCE -- The days of 8-track and cassette tapes are a thing of the past, as are the days of spending long road trips without the luxury of DVD players and surround sound.
For parents dreading the 10-hour drive to visit relatives with fussy children, Installation Station can bring some peace and quiet to the ride with movies and music.
Located in Fort Pierce for more than 20-years, owner Jim Hoover's business has evolved with technological developments.
"Things have changed so much since we first started," Mr. Hoover said. "We still install speakers and amplifiers, but things are so much more sophisticated than they used to be. We've had to learn new ways to compensate for the advances in technology."
The store is loaded with tires, rims, stereo equipment and more electronic devices that one can imagine. Each device can be installed into various modes of transportation.
"I've hooked up four-wheelers, tractors and golf carts with and stereos," Mr. Hoover said. "If a customer can dream it, we do whatever we can to make that dream come true. I've even customized a mud-buggy. We can handle just about any job given to us."
Mr. Hoover said one of the newest trends is installing Satellite radio into cars.
"That's what's hot right now. Satellite Radio, Bluetooth devices and our biggest seller, Memphis Car Audio. We carry most every line of audio equipment, but that's one of our most popular lines."
Installation Station has a full line of service. Most customers come in knowing exactly the type of sound they want or what tires and rims they want to cruise around on. But, for those who need help deciding which direction to go, Mr. Hoover and his expert staff are glad to assist.
"We cover everything from working with car dealerships to bring their vehicles up to date, to helping moms keep restless kids seated while in the car, to navigation systems for those on the road a lot, to helping seniors figure out which alarm system they want installed. We do it all."
Installation Station offers same day service and is open six days a week. They are located at 3802 South U.S. in Fort Pierce.
