Attention, nonprofits, studios, galleries, museums, playhouses, historical sites, symphonies, community clubs and support groups:

The deadline for submission of your organization's events to be included in the Hometown News' In Season section this year, which will cover October 2013 through March 2014, will be Saturday, Aug. 31.

Free business continuity seminar

SAFER Indian River County will present a free presentation entitled, "Business Continuity: Preparing For and Recovering From Disaster", Tuesday morning, Aug.13, 7:30 - 9 a.m. at United Way Center, 1836 14th Ave.

This disaster preparedness workshop will offer planning tips for hurricane season and any other catastrophic event. Disasters come in many forms like a tornado, fire, or a more regular occurrence like a blackout or flood. Business owners and managers need a common sense plan that protects management, employees and the business.

Road closures due to Special Olympics

The Indian River County Recreation Department would like to inform the public that the North County Aquatic Center will be closed for the Special Olympic Area Games starting at noon on Friday, Aug. 16 through Sunday, Aug. 18. The facility will re-open on Monday, Aug. 19, at 6 a.m.
