SEBASTIAN -- The Sebastian River Area Chamber of Commerce held its seventh annual 'Grill Out Night' on Friday, Aug. 2, from 5:30-8 p.m.
Members of the community were invited to visit local businesses who offered free food, beverages, prizes, give-ways, coupons, and more.
The event is the summertime version of 'Light Up Night' that the Chamber sponsors in December. 'Grill Out Night' serves as a great way to encourage the community to come learn about the local businesses during the summer as well as give the businesses a chance to show their appreciation for their clients, customers, and the community.
The event also showcased a special Cantaloupe Contest, challenging the businesses to create unique and delicious cantaloupe dishes and beautiful cantaloupe carvings or displays! Secret judges were sent around to savor all the cantaloupe goodies and to check out the creative sculptures. They judged based on taste, creativity, and originality.
3AM Deli won 'Best Taste' for their unique and delicious samplings of cantaloupe delicacies, including cantaloupe tarts, chilled cantaloupe soup, and cantaloupe smoothies.
Kim Ellis Insurance Services won 'Best Creativity' for their hilarious display of "Cantaloupes in Disguise" featuring a cantaloupe snowman, cantaloupe caterpillar, cantaloupe Easter egg, cantaloupe alligator, and cantaloupe jack-o-lantern people.
Best Originality went to St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church for their spread of cantaloupe treats including salsa, salad, smoothies, cake, sorbet, and mousse; and for their cantaloupe carvings/displays that included "Jonah and the Whale," cantaloupe candle centerpieces, cantaloupe swan, cantaloupe flower basket and cantaloupe turtle.
Best Overall was won by Advanced Foot & Ankle for their tropical cantaloupe display that included cantaloupe carved underwater creatures. In addition - they offered face painting, sno-cones, and dunk tank.
