Creating a spray of sand, a female loggerhead sea turtle, named 'Johnny,' makes her way to the ocean from the Barrier Island Center Sunday, July 28, as part of the annual Tour de Turtles marathon, sponsored by the Sea Turtle Conservancy. Johnny was found nesting in the early morning hours Sunday and was equipped with a tracking device and released at about 8:30 a.m. Hundreds of turtle-lovers witnessed Johnny's return to the sea. Her progress can be tracked at www.tourdeturtles.org.
