The Environmental Study Center Campers say goodbye to Sandy the sea turtle as Charlie Carr, vice president of the Environmental Study Center, left, and Port St. Lucie teacher Cody Mott release him into the Indian River Lagoon on Friday, July 12. Sandy was the resident sea turtle at the center for the past two years. In January of 2011 Sandy was left on the doorstep of the Florida Oceanographic Society with a note stating he was found as a hatchling and rescued, taken home and kept illegally in an aquarium. Sandy has been fitted with a satellite transmitter by biologist Dean Bagley with the Inwater ResearchGroup. Inc. For more information visit esc.martinschools.org
