VERO BEACH -- Hair Design is the name and hair design is the game.

The Causeway Plaza in Vero Beach now has new sets of hands ready to provide some fresh shapes and colors to the community all because of Causeway Hair Designs, owned by Shelley Hart.

Whether the hair is thin and fine, thick and frizzy, or somewhere in-between, the three expert stylists at Causeway Hair Design can work with their clients to create the best look for them -- and teach them how to maintain it, Ms. Hart said.

"We're hair designers, not hair cutters. We use angles, we create and we transform," Ms. Hart said.

By teaching clients how to use the correct hair products, whether it's a blow dryer, hair irons or even dry shampoo, clients leave more confident about their hair style and themselves, she said.

Free consultations are also available.

Joining her at the salon are experienced stylists Colleen Monroe and Jill Cielo.

Both Ms. Hart and Ms. Monroe were originally under the tutelage of Ms. Cielo, a master colorist, and who has owned her own salon, been an platform artist several times over and owns a patent on a yet-unreleased hair-loss prevention product.

From the vibrant paintings on the wall, to the bright red chairs to the sunny smiles of the stylists, Hair Designs positively buzzes with energy.

Services at the salon include cuts, coloring, styling, foils and manicures and pedicures by nail technician Kelly Anderson.

A "princess" package is available for little girl birthday parties, Ms. Hart said.

Included in the price of $25 for each participant is birthday cake, hairstyling, makeup and painted nails.

"Moms can come in and sit down and enjoy while we do the party," Ms. Hart said.

The attention to detail and personable nature of the stylists at Hair Designs is one of the things that set them apart from other salons, Ms. Hart said.

One of the newer products on the market for hair care and treatment is keratin. Keratin treatment and styling products use the proteins found in the human body and hair to help bind and restore hair to a healthy state and in most cases dramatically reduces frizziness.

Full-head keratin treatments are available at most salons, but at Hair Designs, the stylists can customize the product to be used where it is needed the most if a client desires, Ms. Hart said.

Business hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. Mondays are by appointment only. Evening appointments can be arranged based on availability.

Causeway Hair Designs is located in the Causeway Plaza at 951 17th St., Vero Beach.
