BREVARD -- Are you a few sky miles shy of a whirlwind adventure this summer?

Don't fret! Let the Swingtime Jazz Band be your passport to adventure at its "Travel the World" concerts.

The concerts, which are part of the band's "Not-in-the-Park" summer picnic concert series, will be at the Melbourne Auditorium on Wednesday, July 17, and Thursday, July 18 at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free, and there are no tickets required.

"We know that not everyone is going to get a chance to visit far-away places this summer," said Art Martin, conductor. "This is our way of bringing our community some of the best-loved songs that transport us to places like Italy, France, Spain and others."

Concert-goers will hear classics, such as "Come Back to Sorrento," "April in Paris," "New York, New York," and much more.

"When we came up with the theme, I chose music that had to do with traveling both abroad and throughout the United States," Mr. Martin added. "We'll be taking the audience on a musical journey all around the world, from Europe to South America to North America."

For those who have not attended the Swingtime Jazz Band's "Not-in-the-Park" concerts before, the atmosphere is very similar to that of a music festival.

"Our 'Not-in-the-Park' concerts are always popular," Mr. Martin said. "It's great fun for our audience to be able to bring a picnic dinner, relax and enjoy some great music in air-conditioned-comfort during the hot summer months."

The Swingtime Jazz Band is also excited to announce that there will be raffles held on each night of the concert and the prizes are extraordinary.

"Victory Cruises has donated free boarding and dining for a party of four, and the Henegar Center has donated five tickets that can be used in any combination to any of the Henegar Broadway Series shows," Mr. Martin said. "We are grateful to our raffle sponsors for their support."

The Swingtime Jazz Band will host "Travel the World" on Wednesday, July 17 and Thursday, July 18 at the Melbourne Auditorium.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and pre-show entertainment by Swingtime Lite, an eight-piece "Big Band," begins at 5:40 p.m.

The concert is free, and no tickets are required for admission.

The Melbourne Auditorium is located at 625 Hibiscus Blvd., Melbourne.
