For Hometown News

As the designated public television station for emergency information in Volusia County, WDSC-TV will be airing "Emergency Preparedness 2013," from 8 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, followed by "Hurricane Survival Tips for the Homeowner."

Stocking your cupboards and buying batteries aren't the only ways to plan for emergencies.

The 90-minute live call-in show, hosted by WESH-TV Reporter Claire Metz, will guide viewers in the steps they need to take to prepare for emergency situations such as severe weather, natural and other disasters, as well as developing a survival plan.

Emergency preparedness experts will be in the studio to answer questions. Viewers are encouraged to call the hotline number: (800) 901-9238.
