BREVARD -- Enjoy America's favorite pastime with man's best friend this weekend.

On Sunday, July 7, the Central Brevard Humane Society, in conjunction with the Brevard County Manatees, will host "Bark in the Park" at Space Coast Stadium in Viera. Gates open at 4 p.m. and the game is scheduled to start at 5:05 p.m.

Cost to attend is $5 per person and $2 per dog. All animals must be on a leash and have proof of shots, along with a county tag.

"There were about 80 dogs total at the last 'Bark in the Park' event on April 14," said Kevin Soto, director of promotions and community relations for the Brevard County Manatees. "We're expecting just as many, if not more for this game."

Enjoy the action as the Brevard County Manatees take on the Tampa Yankees, with your dog! Pet vendors will be on hand, and attendees can have a chance to win cool prizes in a raffle.

"There will be three raffle drawings, in which attendees can win some incredible prizes," Mr. Soto added. "Anything from different Manatees merchandise to a 2013 Manatees team-signed ball, toys courtesy of Kong products, a gift card to Haute Dawgs Salon and Spa, and more."

Bring a blanket or lawn chair, as "Fido" and you take in the game from the grass berm around the outfield fence.

"Throughout the game, we will have pictures of dogs and cats displayed on our video board, that can be adopted," Mr. Soto said. "As the picture of the animal is shown, our announcer will tell potential adoptive families a few things about the animal."

The Central Brevard Humane Society will also be at the event with shelter dogs available for adoption, as well as merchandise and information about responsible pet ownership.

Proceeds from "Bark in the Park" will help the Central Brevard Humane Society as the organization raises awareness and financial support for the many homeless animals, who are searching for their "forever" home.

"This is a great, inexpensive event to enjoy a night at the ballpark and give back to the Central Brevard Humane Society, which works diligently to take care of homeless animals," Mr. Soto said. "Since there are so many animal lovers in this world, it seems like a good idea to mix having a wonderful time at the ballgame and enjoying it with your pet at the same time."
