ST. LUCIE COUNTY -- John Carroll High School announced the sports teams nominated for the Spring Florida High School Athletic Association Academic Team Champion Program.
To be nominated the team must have a minimum team Grade Point Average of a 3.0, and the roster must have a minimum number of participants as well.
Congratulations to the girls' tennis team, which earned a mean GPA of 3.571, and to member Sara Charles who earned a 4.0. Congratulations to the girls' lacrosse team, which earned a mean GPA of 3.522.
Senior Savannah Geary had a 4.0, and sophomores Jordan Puskas-Sullivan and Ashley Wegelewski also earned 4.0 GPAs. The boys' tennis team earned a mean GPA of 3.387, due in part to the following young men earning 4.0's: Brandon Goldstein, Logan Jones and Liam Stanton.
The boys' track team earned a team average of 3.206 GPA, with Daniel Culumber, Max Leu, and John Marcano each earning 4.0 GPAs.
The softball team earned a team average of 3.183, led by sophomore Lainey Williams with a 3.9 GPA.
The boys' lacrosse team earned a 3.139 GPA with senior Patrick Anderson and freshman Benjamin Santangelo each receiving 4.0 GPAs.
The baseball team earned an average of a 2.961 GPA, led by senior Matthew Schaeffer with a 3.620 GPA.
John Carroll High School is proud to nominate teams every quarter for their exceptional student athletes. Last year, the school nominated nearly every sports team, and this year the school is proud to do the same.
